The role
We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Join our family.
Do you get energy from cleaning up technical data, organizing it logically, and making it usable? Do you understand how a parts library or database works and do you enjoy figuring out how things can be improved? Then this position at Damen Marine Components is interesting for you.
What you'll do
As a Data Specialist Parts, you ensure that data regarding parts is recorded completely, reliably, and logically. You work at the intersection of technology, logistics, engineering, and production planning.
You will further develop our parts library and make it future-proof. You will map out which parts and information are available, how they relate to one another, and where data is missing or can be supplemented. In this way, you ensure a clear and reliable foundation for the future. This is not a temporary project, but a structural position in which you will also continue to manage and improve the data.
- Create, modify, classify, clean up, and phase out part data.
- Implement structure in part numbering, characteristics, and lifecycle statuses.
- Recognize and phase out duplicate parts.
- Stimulate the reuse of existing parts.
- Check product structures, bills of materials, and missing data.
- Retrieve and correctly process HS codes and other product codings. You do not need to know these by heart, but you do need to know where to find reliable information.
- Think along about the design of databases and digital systems.
- Analyze and practically solve problems and deviations.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Production Planning, and Service.
A practical and digital position
You won't just be working behind a screen. To properly understand the data, you actively seek out colleagues and the shop floor. You ask questions, investigate where information comes from, and help users with an appropriate solution. That's why we're looking for someone who finds software and data interesting, but who also enjoys being hands-on.

What do you bring?
For this position, we preferably seek an MBO+ or HBO candidate with a practical mindset.
- Work experience within a technical manufacturing company, preferably at the intersection of logistics, engineering, production, or production planning.
- Experience with master data, product information, databases, or other digital systems.
- Insight into how a parts library or database is logically organized.
- Experience with ERP systems. Experience with PLM or PDM systems is a plus.
- Good digital skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Experience with Excel. Knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or reporting tools is a plus.
- Good command of Dutch and English. German is a plus.
Digital knowledge that you have developed in your free time can also be relevant. Think of databases, programming, Excel, Power BI, automation, or technical software.
Who are we looking for?
You are accurate, curious, and practical. You enjoy tidying up something that is disorganized and organizing it logically, step by step. If information is missing, you go looking for the answer yourself.
- You are communicative, approachable, and sufficiently extroverted to actively retrieve information.
- You think in solutions and have a clear "I'm here to help" mentality.
- You can bring colleagues along in a new or improved way of working.
- You maintain an eye for detail without losing sight of the practical goal.
What do we offer?
You will receive an independent position at DMC in Hardinxveld-Giessendam, with direct influence on the quality of technical and logistical processes. You will report to the General Manager Products and work together with various departments within DMC.
To properly get to know the organization, products, and systems, you will work on-site five days a week during the induction period. After that, you can work from home a maximum of two days per week.
