Work Preparer Rivers and Dikes

As a work preparer within our Rivers & Dikes division, you translate our designs into a good and feasible execution of projects throughout the Netherlands, and sometimes in Belgium or Germany. Translating designs into a clear execution plan, so that the execution proceeds as efficiently as possible. That is your goal as a work preparer! In doing so, you are an important link within our projects, from design to realization. You coordinate with all kinds of stakeholders, from designers to ecologists and cable and pipeline specialists. And you form a duo with the site manager to ensure that your plans land well on the work floor.

In the coming period, you will work on projects such as the strengthening of the IJsselmeer dike. There, we are strengthening the dike between Lelystad and Ketelbrug over no less than 17 kilometers. Because our projects lie at the intersection of water and land, all kinds of disciplines come together. Think of large-scale earthmoving and hydraulic engineering. That makes your work extra engaging! And will you be ready for your next step soon? Then you can grow, for example, into project leader, technical manager, or project manager.

This is what your work looks like:

• Translating the requirements and principles of the client into concrete working methods and a feasible phasing for execution.

• Reviewing project designs, testing them for constructability, and coming up with improvement proposals.

• Drawing up plans for execution, such as earthwork flow plans, safety plans, and execution and quality plans.

• Creating schedules, preparing procurement, and requesting and assessing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.

• Advising and supporting the execution. You also identify bottlenecks and opportunities in the progress and adjust your approach where necessary.

Thanks to your broad perspective, you know enough about all aspects of preparation to make sound plans: from design and execution to ecology and permits. In doing so, you maintain an approachable attitude toward various stakeholders and can easily gather the right input: you show interest, ask probing questions, and translate the input into your plans. You also get energy from constantly searching for the best way to execute a project.

• MBO or HBO level.

• Experience as a work preparer within an adjacent field, such as cables and pipelines, landscaping, nature construction, or civil engineering.

You work together with a team of 50 to sometimes 100 colleagues within a project, depending on the phase of the project. What characterizes our project teams? We work closely together as colleagues and step in for one another where necessary. That makes the atmosphere close-knit and the lines of communication short. We also enjoy seeking each other out outside of working hours. Good to know: in good consultation with your project team, you can also work from home occasionally.
