The role

For FEC Intelligence, we are looking for a data-driven Intelligence Analyst. You identify risks by spotting trends and developments in the field of financial economic crime. Do you know how to bring financial economic crime into focus through a strong intelligence position? Then please read on.

What you'll do

As a Financial Economic Crime (FEC) Intelligence Analyst, you conduct research into scenarios that pose a threat to the financial economic integrity of the bank. You perform project-based research into transactions, trends, and potentially involved persons and entities. It is your responsibility to create a complete intelligence picture from all these separate pieces of information. You do this based on your own research, but you also make extensive use of dashboarding. You therefore work closely with the data analysts from the team.
You report your findings to a wide field of stakeholders within the bank and ensure that your intelligence products are converted into the right actions within the organization. The risks that you identify serve as input for customer follow-up, thematic investigations, process improvements, and/or the SIRA.
In addition to these operational intelligence products, you also contribute to the strategic positioning of the team's task: the embedding of an intelligence-driven way of working.
Your responsibilities
• Independently conducting intelligence investigations based on internal and external signals relating to financial economic crime;
• Using and further developing dashboarding to arrive at an intelligence product in a data-driven manner.
• Preparing clear and structured management reports regarding your findings;
• Communicating with stakeholders within DFC, AAB Netherlands, and our foreign branches for international investigations;
• Safeguarding the quality of the various projects and products.

Working Environment

Laws and regulations change continuously and criminals are constantly developing new (money laundering) methods. Within Detecting Financial Crime (DFC), ABN AMRO works towards a sustainable financial system by detecting and preventing financial crime. DFC consists of five units that work together in this. Innovation, Design & Change (ID&C) is one of them and consists of eight departments, each with its own specialty within the FEC domain. Together, these departments support the business as usual with substantive and procedural guidance and by designing and implementing (automated) solutions.

FEC Intelligence is one of the eight departments of ID&C. We work closely with FEC Investigations. FEC Investigations is an investigation team that carries out thematic investigations. Many of the Intelligence products form a starting point for a thematic investigation within FEC Investigations.

FEC Intelligence and FEC Investigations together consist of more than 20 driven professionals. Our location is in Amersfoort on the Van Asch van Wijckstraat.

Your profile

Are you ready for this challenge? Check the profile:

  • You have at least 7 years of work experience; it is a plus if this is in the field of project-based financial crime / AML / TF and/or forensic investigations;
  • You have demonstrable experience in the Intelligence field;
  • You know how to position intelligence at both operational, tactical, and strategic levels;
  • You are able to oversee large amounts of data, translate them into risks, and develop them into an intelligence product
  • You can maintain a helicopter view within an investigation and put this on paper in a structured manner;
  • You are entrepreneurial, pioneering, and creative;
  • You are communicatively skilled and possess organizational sensitivity to involve stakeholders in the ongoing investigation and guide them in the handling of your research results;
