Pay & benefits
What you'll get
We offer We base the level of your salary on your education and relevant work experience. The salary for this position is between € 4862,- and € 6077,- gross per month, excluding holiday allowance, based on a 38-hour work week.
In addition, we offer you a position in which you can have visible influence on healthy and safe working within our heat activities. You will get a broad technical working environment in which daily operations, maintenance, and projects come together and in which learning and continuous improvement are part of the way you work.
The role
Vattenfall is one of the largest energy companies in Europe. We generate electricity and heat and supply energy to millions of customers. We do this in Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Finland, and the Netherlands.
With approximately 21,000 employees, we are making a future possible in which we are less dependent on the use of fossil fuels for our energy. We are at the forefront of the transition to a sustainable energy system. To be able to achieve this ambitious goal, we are looking for talented individuals who, alongside their passion for their own role, also have a strong team spirit and want to contribute to supporting a meaningful corporate mission.
What you'll do
Do you want to ensure that safety is not only well-arranged on paper, but above all works where it matters: in practice? As Lead Heat Safety Specialist, you are close to our people, installations, and projects. You help colleagues and contractors to recognize risks, apply control measures, and learn every day from what is actually happening in the field.
Within our heat company, we produce, transport, and supply heat and cold. We manage our existing assets, perform maintenance, and realize projects and changes to our infrastructure. There is a way to shape that development safely, reliably, and increasingly sustainably. As Lead Heat Safety Specialist, you make an important daily contribution to that.
Your responsibilities
You are present in the field frequently and proactively support the organization in managing H&S risks. In doing so, you do not take over the responsibility for safety from the business. It is precisely through coaching, a critical eye, and targeted verification that you help colleagues to make good and careful safety choices themselves.
Your responsibilities include, among other things:
- You coach colleagues, management, project teams, and contractors on location and investigate whether critical control measures are understood AND applied in practice.
- You support RI&E (Risk Inventory and Evaluation), operational risk assessments, work permits, securing work sites, safe maintenance, and Management of Change.
- You lead or support incident investigations, translate insights into concrete improvements, and provide support where necessary with a Safety report.
- In projects, you support, among other things, mobilization, work at construction sites, contractor coaching, readiness, commissioning, and a safe handover to operations.
- You follow relevant Dutch H&S laws and regulations and, together with subject matter experts, help translate these into practical management measures, processes, and work instructions.
What makes this position special is the combination of operational safety and project safety. You work on existing heat and cold assets, but can also be involved in the construction, commissioning, and handover of new or modified infrastructure. And you do not do this primarily from Amsterdam: the focus of your work is close to the people and locations where the work actually takes place.
You are present in the field frequently
You are a permanent Health & Safety partner for management, supervisors, and teams within Heat NL. Initially, your focus will be on Operations & Asset Management. As our activities evolve, you may also be deployed in project execution and commissioning.

Your profile
Your profile: You know that good safety arises by combining technical knowledge with attention to people and daily practice. You can be critical when necessary, but at the same time know how to build strong working relationships. You communicate easily with both management and colleagues and contractors in the field.
