Pay & benefits

What you'll get

  • A salary that matches your expertise and the weight of this (Styr 8) position.

  • A year-end bonus of 4% upon achieving the objectives.

  • The unique opportunity to leave your technical mark on the icon in cargo bikes.

  • Company laptop and phone.

  • 28 vacation days (on a full-time basis) + 2 extra fixed days off.

  • Pension scheme and the possibility of a bicycle lease (including your own Urban Arrow!).

  • Travel allowance or NS Business Card.

  • Free catered lunch at the office.

  • Growth opportunities within Pon.Bike.

  • An informal working atmosphere with a close-knit, technically driven, and international team.

The role

Are you that technical expert who perfectly designs, develops, and subsequently flawlessly brings complex bicycles (and bicycle parts) into production? Urban Arrow is the iconic brand in electric cargo bikes and we are growing fast. To further strengthen our position as market leader, we are looking for a Design Engineer who technically realizes our innovations. From the first sketch to series production in our factories in Amsterdam and Lithuania: you ensure a customer-oriented design, high-quality standards, and manufacturability. In this role, you are the practical problem solver within our Innovation team. Where others see a complex problem, you see a challenge to arrive at a smart and simple design.

What you'll do

As a Design Engineer, you operate within a team on our (NPI and LCM) projects. You will take responsibility for the technical detailing and ensure that deadlines are met.

  • Planning & Principles: Within the project frameworks, you manage your own planning. Do you foresee risks? Then you report them proactively to the Project Manager. For us, innovation means the smart application of techniques and materials. By making smart use of proven technology (looking at what already works in the market), you accelerate the development of the bicycles and parts.

  • Technical Execution: You solve complex engineering puzzles. You translate functional designs into simple, smart parts and are able to validate these through analyses and testing. You focus on quality and manufacturability, so that our bicycles remain iconic, robust, and reliable.

  • Collaboration: You work independently on smaller projects or in a team on complete bicycles. You actively seek collaboration and input from other departments within Urban Arrow and from the other brands and specialists of Pon.Bike. You work together with suppliers domestically and abroad and will visit them on a regular basis.

  • BOM Integrity: A good design is only finished when it is completely finished. You bear the responsibility for accurately building and maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOM) of a new design. You ensure that the 3D specifications in PDM align seamlessly with the data in SAP, so that Purchasing and Production can rely on this data.

  • Production Handover: You handle the technical handover to the factory floor (e.g., in Lithuania). You validate the data of every product change and establish watertight assembly frameworks for a good start to production (First Time Right).
