Surveyor (Haven & Scheepvaart)

• Have an MBO education or work at an MBO level
• Have at least 1 year of work experience as a Surveyor, preferably within bulk goods
• Have a good command of Dutch and English
• Possess good mathematical insight and work accurately
• Are flexible with working hours; after all, the port runs 24/7
• Possess a driver's license (category B)
• Are physically fit and enjoy working outdoors
• Are eager to learn and like to roll up your sleeves

SGS Nederland B.V. is active within various business lines, including Natural Resources – Minerals. We provide quantity and quality controls of, among others, ores, coal, metals, and industrial minerals. In short: we keep the cargo sharply in sight from quay to ship.

As a Surveyor, you are the one who keeps everything on course. You perform inspections, measurements, and cargo controls on bulk goods such as coal, ores, and metals. In doing so, you work at various locations in the port, including on board ships, at terminals, in sheds, and warehouses.

Your duties include:

• Performing draft surveys and measurements
• Calibrating barges and determining cargo quantities
• Inspecting ship holds before loading
• Stock controls, container inspections, and sampling

You work full-time in varying shifts. Because the port operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you work according to a shift roster. In addition to day and evening shifts, night shifts and occasional weekend shifts may also be part of your role. Together with your colleagues, you determine who handles which task. Teamwork is key, because in the port, you are never alone on deck.
