What we're looking for

What do you bring?
You possess HBO/WO (Higher Professional/University) working and thinking levels, preferably in logistics, supply chain, economics, or law, supplemented by a completed customs training (such as declarant or customs expert). You have at least seven years of experience within customs processes, of which at least three years in a leadership role. Experience with AEO processes, permit management, and audits is second nature to you.

You are a coaching leader who knows how to develop young talent while remaining substantively strong. You combine strong analytical skills with high risk awareness and make decisions effortlessly when faced with complex issues. In doing so, you always know how to find the right balance between strict compliance requirements and commercial interests, ensuring solutions are both safe and business-oriented.

You have an affinity for IT systems and data-driven process improvement. You communicate clearly at all levels, work accurately and with integrity, and have a good command of the Dutch and English languages.

What you'll do

Your role
As General Customs Manager, you provide strategic, operational, and commercial leadership to the SGS Maco customs organization. You hold ultimate responsibility for compliance, leverage commercial opportunities, and guide both the organization and customers through the transition to the new Union Customs Code (UCC).

You are a substantively strong, coaching leader with a vision for digitalization, risk management, and sanctions legislation. You oversee the big picture within customs brokerage, encompassing the entirety of indirect taxes and non-fiscal measures within which our profession operates.

Developing and executing the customs strategy with AEO as a foundation
Translating UCC impact into processes, IT, and customer propositions
Ensuring compliance (UCC & national legislation) and permit management
Managing import, export, and transit processes
Advising customers and acting as a sparring partner for stakeholders
Initiating digitalization and process optimization
