The role

MVRDV is looking for a Project & Financial Controller to strengthen our Finance & Operations team in Rotterdam!

You will be the financial right hand to our Head of Finance and the daily sparring partner for Project Managers. You will help Project Managers understand and manage the financial performance of their projects, from startup to closure. You will also help Finance keep the monthly closing, forecasting, and financial processes reliable. In short, you ensure that our projects remain financially healthy and our figures are predictable.

What you'll do

  • Collaborating with Project Managers in preparing and reviewing project budgets, fee calculations, and forecasts

  • Monitoring financial project performance: revenue, costs, margin, WIP, and cash flow; identifying risks and opportunities early

  • Performing variance and scenario analyses and translating figures into practical advice regarding profitability, invoicing, and cash

  • Supporting Project Managers during project startup, monthly reviews, and project closure

  • Ensuring correct project setup, coding structures, and cost allocation

  • Checking timesheets and project allocations for accuracy and consistency

  • Identifying inefficiencies in project execution and contributing to margin improvement

  • Supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes with accruals, reconciliations, and analyses

  • Contributing to company-wide budgeting and forecasting

  • Assisting in the preparation of management reports and KPI dashboards

  • Supporting audit preparation and compliance activities

  • Helping to improve financial processes, reporting quality, and automation

  • Connecting project results to total financial performance

  • Aligning project budgets with staffing and capacity planning

  • Translating financial data into clear, actionable advice for non-financial colleagues

  • Supporting management with financial analyses and business cases

  • Analytical and structured, with an eye for detail

  • Comfortable with challenging figures and assumptions

  • Able to make financial information understandable for non-financial colleagues

  • Proactive, hands-on, and improvement-oriented

What we offer you

In addition to the opportunity to work within a global and award-winning company, we offer, among other things:

  • An exciting, inspiring, and international working environment

  • A nice office location in Rotterdam

We would love for you to come and work with us!
