Requirements

What we're looking for

  • You have professional experience as a frontend developer and write clean, readable, and well-tested code.
  • You have a strong foundation in JavaScript and TypeScript and feel at home in a component-based framework. Experience with Vue 3 and Nuxt is a major plus. Do you come from a React or Angular environment and would love to work with Vue and Nuxt? Then we would like to meet you.
  • You have an eye for the user on the other side of the screen. Accessibility, performance, and clear error and loading statuses are part of a finished feature for you, not extras that are only added if there is time left.
  • You collaborate well with designers, backend developers, and product owners. You can explain technical trade-offs in understandable language and prefer to ask questions early rather than making assumptions.
  • You feel comfortable taking responsibility for your work in production: analyzing dashboards and logs, investigating incidents, and tackling the cause instead of just the symptoms.
  • You are curious and pragmatic. You weigh the benefits of a new dependency against the maintenance costs and the impact on the bundle size, and you recognize when the simplest solution is the best.

Nice to have

  • GraphQL
  • Working in a large shared codebase
  • GitHub Actions
  • Developing with a design system
  • Hybrid app development with Capacitor

  • An annual bonus of max 5% of your annual salary based on organizational objectives.
  • 30 vacation days (with the possibility to buy or sell vacation days) and 8% holiday allowance. You build up a pension through participation in the Bedrijfstakpensioenfonds voor het Levensmiddelenbedrijf (Industry Pension Fund for the Food Industry).
  • An allowance for your travel expenses (€ 0.21 cents per kilometer with a max. of 35 kilometers one way). We like to work together in the office, but you can also work partly from home.
  • Room for entrepreneurship, growth, and development. Not only in your job but also via our Jumbo Academy, online training via GoodHabitz, and with a training budget.
  • A (di)verse lunch in our Foodcafé, good coffee, and fresh fruit. For a small fee, you can exercise in our Jumbo Gym.
  • Various colleague discounts, such as a 10% discount on your groceries (max. € 325 per year), participation in our collective health insurance, and great discounts via Benefits at Work.

The role

Doing groceries seems simple, but behind a smooth online shopping experience lies a complex frontend challenge. Customers fill their shopping carts at various times, on different devices, and under diverse circumstances. Meanwhile, prices and offers change, delivery slots fill up, and the customer expects everything to always be correct and to respond instantly.

As a Frontend Engineer at Jumbo, you ensure that this experience becomes a reality. You develop customer-oriented functionalities in Vue 3, Nuxt, and TypeScript, from the initial design through to going live. In doing so, you build components used both on jumbo.com and in the Jumbo app, allowing a single codebase to support multiple channels.

You work closely with UX designers, product owners, and backend engineers to realize user-friendly, reliable, and scalable solutions. Quality is central to this: you test your work carefully, monitor accessibility according to WCAG 2.2 AA, and optimize performance on the devices our customers actually use.

Because you are responsible for the entire process, you remain involved even after going live. You monitor the performance of your solutions, analyze incidents, and improve where necessary. Additionally, you actively share knowledge with colleagues, review code, and contribute to the further development of the frontend field within Jumbo.
