What we're looking for

  • MVK diploma, or demonstrable work experience;

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a technical environment, preferably within petrochemicals, industry, or oil & gas;

  • In possession of a VCA-VOL;

  • A high sense of responsibility and the courage to address colleagues (on the shop floor) regarding (un)safe behavior;

  • Knowledge of Seveso, ARBO laws and regulations;

  • Excellent command of the Dutch language, a good command of the English language;

  • Competencies: Communication (verbal expression), commitment/involvement, quality awareness, overview, problem-solving ability

About Evos Amsterdam Oost: Evos Amsterdam Oost is a flexible terminal for the storage and blending of all types of fuels. Products are delivered to and from sea-going and inland vessels, and via pipeline to Schiphol Airport. The terminal plays a central role in securing the supply to Europe and the rest of the world and actively develops sustainable product streams as part of the energy transition.

About the role: As a supervisor, you are the linchpin in ensuring that operations at our terminal run safely and efficiently. You supervise and check the execution of maintenance on installations, modifications, and new construction work at the terminal. You ensure that everything is carried out according to the applicable work permits and safety and environmental procedures. Additionally, you play an important role in the permitting process: you ensure that all activities comply with the correct regulations and that everyone can work safely.

What you'll do

Your core tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Reviewing and checking (provided) (high risk) work permits including correct and complete documentation (such as LOTO, TRA, safety and health plans);

  • Discussing identified conflicts, deviations, and irregularities with the applicant, requesting adjustments to the work permit, and assessing these;

  • Checking and assessing the content of work permits, and explaining the overview of the permits to the duty officers;

  • Checking whether (high risk) activities are carried out in accordance with the permit, intervening if necessary;

  • Supervising contractors during the execution of work;

  • Checking the execution of work in accordance with the work permit (safety, result), identifying deviations, addressing the contractor, and potentially escalating to a supervisor;

  • Taking samples (utility), performing determinations according to instructions, or having analyses performed by an external party; -

  • Providing requested and unrequested advice in the field of safety, health, and environment from within your own area of expertise;

  • Participating in various cross-departmental projects, contributing user experience and process knowledge.
