MLO Chemistry Internship - Asphalt & Leaching

• An internship allowance of €300,- gross based on a full-time internship.

Eurofins Netherlands is looking for an MLO intern level 3 or 4 starting from February 2027! During this internship, you will work within two different teams: Asphalt and Leaching. This allows you to get acquainted with different types of analyses and learn how material and soil research works in practice.

Within the asphalt group, you investigate which layers asphalt is composed of and whether harmful substances, such as PAHs, are present. This is done, among other things, to determine whether asphalt can be used safely and reused (recycling).

Your duties include:

• Examining and assessing asphalt samples
• Categorizing different layers within a sample
• Carefully (pre)processing materials for further analyses

The work requires accuracy and a keen eye, because asphalt can have a complex structure.

Within the leaching group, you work with soil and material samples in which it is investigated which substances can leach out (such as metals and anions).

During your internship, you will be involved in, among other things:

• Performing water extractions
• Measuring pH and conductivity
• Supporting long-term tests that can last several weeks

Within this department, good planning and maintaining an overview are essential, because different analyses run simultaneously and timing plays an important role.
