The role

The world in which we live is constantly changing. As a driving force in the energy transition, Eneco is the first to deal with new sustainable energy sources and new ways of energy storage and management. At the same time, our customers are also changing rapidly. To excel in this dynamic environment, we need to transform ourselves. You are going to work at a company large enough to make a significant impact, within an innovative and proactive team. Our organization is open and brimming with energy. At Eneco, anyone with a sharp mind and a positive and active mindset can contribute to a more sustainable world.

Eneco is a vertically integrated energy company aiming to be carbon neutral in 2035. We invest in renewable energy, heat and flexible assets such as batteries and sell this energy to our customers. Eneco Energy Trade (EET) is at the heart of Eneco, managing all commodity positions of Eneco.

As a Trade Back Office Specialist, you are the crucial link between energy trading and its financial processing. You ensure the control of trading transactions and the correct handling of the related cash flows. Due to the continuous changes and automation, you are flexible and analytically sharp so that we maintain control and oversight of our transactions.

As a Trade Back Office Specialist, you will work within Eneco Energy Trade (EET) and join a team of 8 enthusiastic professionals. This team is primarily focused on ensuring the correct and complete financial settlement of the complex contracts in the field of energy trading.

Examples of this work include setting up new contracts and settlements, processing and confirmation of energy trades, correct recording of costs and revenues in the financial administration, monitoring payments to and from external parties and carrying out operational compliance activities. In addition, you continuously contribute to making processes more efficient. In doing so, you work with us to optimally support Eneco's energy transition.

Together with your colleagues in the team, you ensure a complete administration. In doing so, you understand the world behind these figures and safeguard the quality of the administrative records, including in the trading system.

  • Oversee the end-to-end operational process, monitor progress, and identify opportunities for improvement. You take ownership of ensuring accurate, timely, and complete execution, while proactively aligning with trading colleagues, business control, and other relevant departments whenever needed.
  • Determining your daily activities and priorities and processing ad hoc requests while weighing their importance and urgency. You are confident enough to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across and beyond Eneco Energy Trade. You work proactively with external parties such as financial administrators, as well as internal stakeholders including management, traders, legal, and the central finance organization
  • Drive and support improvements to trade and financial processes and related systems. You continuously enhance the quality and efficiency of your own processes by refining work instructions and incorporating feedback from colleagues.

You are structured, analytical and comfortable in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly. You take ownership of your work and understand the importance of accuracy and control in a trading environment. At the same time, you collaborate easily with others and communicate clearly with different stakeholders.

You also bring:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree (finance-related or strong financial component);
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping and financial processes
  • Experience within a corporate environment, shared services and/or energy trading;
  • Affinity with large datasets and translating them into effective control processes;
  • Knowledge of financial controls and compliance frameworks (e.g. JSOX);
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English;
  • Currently living in the Netherlands.

Even if you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Motivation, learning ability and mindset matter just as much as experience.

You will join the Trade Back Office team within Eneco Energy Trade, consisting of around 8 professionals with different areas of expertise.

The team works closely together and has a central role in the financial processing of trading activities. This means you interact frequently with traders, finance and other departments across Eneco. Everyone takes ownership of their domain, while also contributing to team-wide improvements and projects.

The environment is dynamic and constantly evolving. No two days are the same, and you are continuously challenged to improve processes while maintaining high standards in quality and control.
