Technical Solution Architect

IT must be able to support daily operations, today and five years from now. As a Technical Solution Architect / Tech Lead, you safeguard the technical architecture of the applications the organization relies on. You provide direction to the technical vision and roadmap, and you do not do this from the sidelines, because you work hands-on in working groups and guilds. We are looking for an experienced architect who maintains an overview and also rolls up their sleeves.

Will you help determine what IT looks like tomorrow?

• You safeguard the technical architecture of the applications within the department and test new solutions and changes against the agreed principles.

• You formulate the technical vision and, together with the teams and stakeholders, translate it into a supported technical roadmap.

• You manage the tech radar, so that it is clear to everyone which technologies are being deployed, tested, maintained, or phased out.

• You ensure alignment between the teams, so that technical choices connect to one another and double work and isolated islands are prevented.

• You work hands-on in working groups and guilds, for example when developing a proof of concept, building tools, a design, or a code review.

• You keep an eye on the technical side of ongoing projects and signal risks early, so that adjustments can be made in a timely manner.

• You help developers further with complex technical issues and actively share your knowledge.

What the organization and its partners need is constantly changing. The applications must be able to follow that movement without the landscape becoming fragmented, and that is where your role lies.

As Tech Lead, you are the technical conscience of the department. You safeguard the cohesion in the application landscape, with the primary source system and the connections with external partners at its core. You ensure that technical choices within the teams align with a shared vision, and that this vision is translated into a roadmap that everyone supports.

You work together with the developers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters in the teams, and with enterprise architecture, security, and external partners. You make the translation between the long term and next week's sprint.

An experienced architect can go anywhere. This makes this role different:

• Your choices have a direct effect on the daily work of many colleagues.

• You build a landscape that must be able to move along with a changing environment, and that requires architecture that is and remains agile.

• Tech radar, roadmap, and guilds are instruments that you further shape together with the teams.

You are an architect who feels at home between the whiteboard and the codebase. You think in terms of cohesion and long-term lines, but you find it just as important that a design works in practice. You convince with arguments instead of with your position, and you know when to hold firm and when to give the teams space.

You work in a complex environment with many stakeholders. You explain technical choices clearly to people without a technical background, and you seek the connection between teams that each have their own priorities.

You possess:

• Minimum HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level.

• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in software development and architecture, including several years in an architecture or tech lead role.

• Extensive hands-on experience with modern software development, cloud, and integrations between systems.

• Demonstrable experience in formulating and communicating a technical vision and roadmap.

• Organizational sensitivity: you are steadfast in your principles, but know when flexibility is needed to move forward together.

• Fluent Dutch in speech and writing.
