description
We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Join our family.
Do you wrench on trucks, cars, agricultural machinery, or other heavy technology? Then this is your chance to make the switch to the maritime world. You don't need to have experience with marine engines yet. We will teach you how to maintain, overhaul, and get large marine diesel engines running again.
We are, of course, also looking for experienced marine engine mechanics. We have written a separate vacancy for this.
At Damen Schelde Marine Services, we work daily on the maintenance, overhaul, and delivery of parts for marine diesel engines. With our technical expertise and customer-oriented approach, we support ship owners all over the world. This vacancy concerns our new location in Vlissingen, Louis Pasteurweg 1.
Make the switch to marine engines
At Damen, you will learn to work on medium- and slow-speed marine diesel engines. Together with experienced colleagues, you will develop yourself into a specialist in maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting. Experience with marine engines is therefore not required. Technical insight, wrenching experience, and the motivation to learn the trade are more important.
What will you do?
One week you will overhaul large engine parts in the workshop. The next week you will work on board a ship in Vlissingen or Antwerp, or sometimes elsewhere in Europe. Your activities include:
Who are we looking for?
This position is interesting for technicians who, for example, work as:
- Truck mechanic
- Diesel mechanic
- Car mechanic
- Mobile equipment mechanic
- Agricultural mechanization mechanic
- Technician in the industrial maintenance sector
Do you do a lot of engine wrenching in your free time and do you have a technical education or relevant practical experience? Even then, we would love to get in touch with you.
For example, we have a colleague who is an ex-roofer.
What do you bring?
