The role
As a Trading Venues Supervisor, you contribute to the supervision of the operation, resilience, and integrity of trading platforms in the Netherlands. You assess whether these parties comply with laws and regulations and whether their business operations, governance, and trading systems are designed in a controlled and robust manner. You delve into market developments, risks, and technological innovations that influence the design and functioning of trading platforms. Together with colleagues, you are an important point of contact for market participants and regularly hold discussions with executives, compliance officers, and other stakeholders. You analyze complex issues, assess risks, and determine which supervisory measures are appropriate. In doing so, your approach varies from explaining the standard and influencing to formal enforcement. Because financial markets, regulation, and technology are constantly in motion, this position offers much variety and substantive challenge. You will quickly develop into a specialist in a dynamic and socially relevant field.
What you'll do
Assessing whether trading platforms comply with legal requirements and translating findings into supervisory actions.
Investigating signals and data for possible violations and, where necessary, taking enforcement action.
Conducting thematic and institution-specific investigations into risks, compliance, and market developments.
Engaging in dialogue with executives and other representatives of trading platforms and addressing them regarding shortcomings and risks.
Analyzing issues in the fields of market structure, technology, and regulation and arriving at a substantiated supervisory judgment.
Bringing together different expertise, including legal, operational, policy, and technical knowledge, to assess and resolve supervisory issues integrally.
What we ask
⭐ A completed university degree (WO), for example in economics, finance, law, or a similar field;
⭐ At least 4 years of relevant work experience within the financial sector, consultancy, supervision, or another complex knowledge environment;
⭐ Strong analytical skills and the ability to distinguish between main and secondary issues;
⭐ Market and sector insight: You have knowledge of, or a strong interest in, capital markets and (legal) issues surrounding trading platforms;
⭐ Result-oriented: You identify opportunities, take initiative, and translate ideas into concrete actions and results;
⭐ Analytical: You are strong in structuring, analyzing, and solving complex issues and know how to distinguish main and secondary issues well;
⭐ Proactive attitude and ownership in your work;
⭐ Communicative: You communicate clearly and persuasively in both Dutch and English, both orally and in writing.
