The role
Location: Hengelo, Netherlands
Thales designs extremely modern radar systems and optical sensors that form part of a complete and integrated defense system. The product portfolio ranges from small portable radars for, for example, border or object surveillance to complex four-dimensional radars that can detect small objects at distances of hundreds to thousands of kilometers.
Within the software department, the Sensor processing group is responsible for the software development of the optimal control and the digital processing functions in the sensors. Here, work is carried out in multidisciplinary teams in collaboration with specialists in the fields of systems engineering, functional sensor design, and the design and realization of real-time systems.
Within this Sensor processing group, the complete radar software is developed. This includes various domains including the control of the radar systems, the organization of the radar transmissions, and the processing of the digital information flow. The ultimate goal is to detect and classify specific objects, such as aircraft and drones, for example, to track them and display them on an operator console.
The software architecture is designed in a highly modular way and supports the development of robust and evolutionary systems. Development takes place in Agile teams supported by a modern development pipeline. The further development and maintenance of the architecture, the development pipeline, and the Agile process is carried out by the teams themselves.
To strengthen the Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the GM200 radar system, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated c/c++ software engineer. The IPT GM200 consists of Software Engineers who integrate and configure the building blocks for their radar system. Additionally, they add specific software, for example certain features, interfaces, or protocols, requested by the customer. From this, the IPT builds software releases, tests them on a simulator and on a radar system, and releases them for acceptance testing at the system level. Additionally, the IPT GM200 resolves so-called software problem reports (PR), which are found during acceptance testing or during use of the radar system by the customer.
