Hey, we're Basic-Fit. Or, if you ask our DevOps community (45 tech-savvy souls), Basic-IT. But don't worry, that 'basic' prefix doesn't refer to our jobs;-) Given our size, growth rate, and need for scalability, nothing about our IT operation is basic

We have over 2.4 million active (and hyperactive) members and open a new location each day, every day. While we rarely raise our voice in the office, DEVELOPING SCALABLY can definitely be spelled in all caps. That certainly goes for the customer-facing platforms that hide in very plain sight behind our universal login. Are you ready to flex your Node.js biceps? Join one of Europe's fittest IT squads!

THIS IS WHAT YOUR ASSIGNMENT LOOKS LIKE

As our Node.js Developer, You'll join the squad (8 direct colleagues) that zooms in on everything and anything customer-facing that can conceivably help people get the most or more out of their Basic-Fit membership, and then some. Make our online membership kiosk everything our customers want, need and like. Examples include the registration, membership, and payment portals. Plus (a different team, but we're big on 'exchange programs') a range of apps, such as our digital fitness coach, ranking apps (chart your way to Arnold in his prime), and whatever else we can come up with. Hint? We're looking into smart scales, buddy systems, virtual workouts, et cetera.

Regardless of the code you build, scalability, resilience, and developing for multiple scenarios are prerequisites. Infallible code may be a bridge too far, but it doesn't hurt to aim for it. Together with your team - which includes a dedicated QA Engineer - you build the APIs that knit the fabric of the digital Basic-Fit universe together, ensuring individual solutions impersonate this team.;-) of note: while we happily utilize off-the-shelf solutions (we push Salesforce to its absolutes limits), a lot of our stuff is - and will continue to be - developer in-house. If you're a same old same old aficionado, this might not be your ideal role. But if you love to ideate, make, attempt to break and build back better, join the club!

THIS IS WHERE YOU'LL WORK

Your home base is our Tilburg Plan-T office, a buzzing tech hub where the PC master race rules supreme. Here you'll join a community of tech-savvy compatriots: full-stackers, back-enders, mobile developers, delivery leads, and more. We think sharing is caring, and while giving back to the community may sound sappy, we mean it: we team up with academics, organize events, and are a proud member of Tailors.nl, a growth accelerator program that organizes tons of fun stuff, like the Tailors Den where you get to see other companies' innovative prowess. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

2+ years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining high-availability performant code, preferably in SaaS settings.
Your favorite exercise machines include Node.js, MongoDB, Typescript, and Swagger
We don't have any 'if you lack this skill, we'll evict you' criteria, but some Heroku, Mulesoft, Salesforce, Contentful, Akamai WAF, and Google tools knowledge would increase your cuddliness
You love to experiment (sanely) and welcome any and all feedback on your work. You also reciprocate by providing feedback
You have an end-to-end mentality, an outgoing personality, strong English communication skills (if you also speak Dutch, Spanish or French, great!), and you always get the LAN party going.
You want to shine at a corporate that has a start-up mentality: Basic-Fit is getting, getting, getting kinda heavy, but we don't straitjacket anyone, let alone our developers
