Senior Sustainability Advisor

• HBO (Higher Professional Education) level of working and thinking and at least 10 years of relevant work experience within sustainability, infrastructure, or the built environment

• Experience with sustainability issues within complex projects

• Knowledge of emission-free equipment, electrification, charging infrastructure, or energy systems

• Experience with MCI, LCA, and CO₂ reduction programs

• Strong advisory skills and the ability to engage people at different levels

• Politically sensitive, independent, and able to connect opposing interests

• A persistent personality that knows how to achieve results in a complex environment

As a Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will work within Ballast Nedam Large Infra from our locations in Gorinchem and Utrecht. A significant part of your time will be spent on the A27 Houten-Hooipolder project, where you will collaborate with project management, project teams, and construction partners to actually realize sustainability objectives.

In this role, you are responsible for monitoring, executing, and further concretizing the sustainability plans drawn up during the tender phase. The ambitions are set, but the challenge lies in the execution. You ensure that measures regarding emission-free equipment, CO₂ reduction, circularity, MCI, and LCA are not only followed but also deliver demonstrable results. In doing so, you move easily between management level and execution and know how to connect diverse interests.

As a Senior Sustainability Advisor, you fulfill a visible and independent role within one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. You are a strong interlocutor who knows how to translate sustainability ambitions into concrete actions. At the same time, depending on the need and your expertise, you will contribute to other projects within Ballast Nedam Large Infra. In this way, you bring practical lessons to other project teams and contribute to the further development of sustainability within our organization.

A summary of your activities:

• Advising project management, management, and execution on sustainability issues within scope 1&2 and explicitly also within the chain in scope 3.

• Monitoring and reporting on performance in the areas of CO₂ reduction, MCI, and sustainable equipment

• Driving and implementing initiatives regarding emission-free equipment, charging infrastructure, and energy management

• (Having) prepared LCA reports to demonstrate and monitor project-specific MCI values.

• Initiating and guiding circular solutions and waste reduction programs

• Connecting internal and external stakeholders and creating support for sustainability objectives

• Translating experiences and lessons learned into improvements for other infra projects
