The role

Do you want to further develop yourself within specialist veterinary medicine?

Are you an experienced veterinary nurse ready for the next step? At the Specialistische Dierenkliniek Utrecht (SDU), you will get the opportunity to further develop yourself, take on more responsibility, and work with complex and challenging patient cases. We are looking for a veterinary nurse for 36 hours per week.

SDU is a secondary care clinic, located on the A2 ring road. Our team consists of 15 European specialists and 19 veterinary nurses. With so many different specialties under one roof, there is plenty of knowledge and expertise present, and you will learn something new every day.

We find high-quality veterinary medicine important, but at least as important is how we interact with each other, our patients, and their owners. We work closely together, share knowledge, and are there for one another.

What you'll do

As a veterinary nurse at SDU, you are an important link in the care surrounding our patients. You work closely with the various specialists and will have a versatile role in which you both assist and perform tasks independently.

A special part of your role is the wound clinic. You will be trained internally to perform wound checks and bandage changes independently, giving you your own responsibility within patient care.

Your duties include:

  • Assisting our specialists during clinic hours.

  • Performing wound checks and bandage changes independently during your own clinic hours.

  • Caring for hospitalized patients and closely monitoring their well-being and recovery.

  • Administering brownula, drawing blood, and performing various laboratory tests.

  • Taking X-rays and CT scans independently.

  • Acting as a trusted point of contact for clients and their animals at the reception desk and on the phone.

  • Communicating with referring veterinarians and ensuring a good transfer of information.

  • Scheduling appointments for our specialists and contributing to good organization regarding patient care.

Through the combination of specialist patient care, working independently, and contact with clients, your work is varied and you will receive plenty of room to further develop your knowledge and skills.

What do we offer you?

At SDU, you get the space to develop yourself within a clinic where various specialties and vast knowledge come together.

You can count on:

  • A versatile position of 36 hours per week within a specialist secondary care clinic.

  • The possibility to run your own wound clinic after internal training.

  • An experienced team of 15 European specialists and 19 veterinary nurses, through which you can gain much knowledge and experience.

  • An extensive and varied set of tasks including both specialist patient care and client contact.

  • A good induction period that aligns with your experience and needs.

  • Room for professional and personal development.

  • A pleasant working environment in which collaboration and sharing knowledge are central.

  • Excellent employment conditions in accordance with our employment package.

Ready for your next step?

Do you want to use your experience in a specialist clinic and simultaneously develop new skills? Does it seem interesting to run your own wound clinic and collaborate daily with various specialists?
