We ensure that GenAI and Advanced Analytics models can be run in production, managed, and innovated. This is necessary to convert the potential of these models into actual value.

In a team of (5) machine learning engineers, you will work closely with our data scientists to put the models they develop into production. Within mortgages, you are the only ones who can do this reliably and compliantly. The team works DevOps and is therefore also responsible for the management of the models and innovation of the technology. For example, we are currently setting up a new GenAI platform specifically for ABN AMRO Mortgages.

ABN AMRO is investing heavily in GenAI and machine learning models. To put these into production responsibly and in a controlled manner, we need you. These models run in a Databricks environment. Additionally, we are expanding with a managed Kubernetes cluster for our genAI use cases with real-time endpoints. (Extensive) experience with Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes, Python (including scikit-learn, xgboost, pandas, openai, langchain, mlflow), PySpark, RAG, and knowledge of agentic solutions is therefore necessary. Work experience with Agile / Scrum is a plus.

In addition to technical skills, the right mindset is important. You feel ownership over the models that the team has under its care. You seek collaboration with our data scientists to understand their needs and to be able to help them. In doing so, you do not lose sight of your own craftsmanship and you push back if the solution does not meet our internal (and possibly external) guidelines.

You know how to find the right balance between technical quality and business value. You choose solutions that are sustainable, but also actually achievable within a reasonable time. You are not only a strong engineer, but also a driver of results. You help the team to make decisions, make choices based on facts and risks, and actually bring code into production. You recognize when a discussion adds value and when it is time to make a decision and deliver.

Our office is located in Amersfoort and the atmosphere in our department is cozy and relaxed. Passion for your profession, entrepreneurship, and craftsmanship are important to us in the department. The culture is informal, we are open to each other, and we celebrate successes. We attach great value to good communication and coordination within the teams and department. Experimentation is encouraged and making mistakes is allowed, as long as you learn from them and can justify them. On Mondays, we sit in the office with the entire IT department for team meetings and other forms of collaboration. Additionally, many teams still have an extra day on which they come together.

• You have at least 3 years of work experience as a technical data specialist (ML engineer, data engineer)
• You have an academic or HBO (higher professional education) education and employment level

• You are a team player who dares to challenge the status quo and possess strong analytical, communicative, and problem-solving skills

• You have excellent command of the Dutch language and can collaborate professionally in an English-speaking environment

• You have experience with Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes, Python, PySpark, RAG, and agentic systems

• You know how to balance technical quality and business value, take ownership, help the team in making choices, and ensure that solutions are actually brought into production
