The role
Are you social, curious, and interested in financial markets? Have you always wanted to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment on the largest trading floor in continental Europe? Then the Global Markets Traineeship is for you! Located at the Amsterdam Zuidas, you will structure the best deals for our clients and guide them through the complex world of financial instruments. Apply now for the Global Markets Traineeship for a start in March 2027.
What you'll do
As a trainee within Global Markets, you will follow what is happening in the world and the financial markets and what influence that has on our clients, products, and the bank. Naturally, during the traineeship, you will receive plenty of room to develop yourself, both personally and professionally.
Your first 5 weeks at ABN AMRO start with a Corporate Banking Traineeship introduction program at Nyenrode Business University, where you will get to know the bank together with other trainees. During this period, you will become acquainted with the (corporate) bank and follow a training program featuring professional and personal development sessions. The training is provided by experts who belong to the top of their field. Together, they offer you a solid foundation to further develop yourself within the bank. At the same time, you will build an international network of fellow trainees in different parts of the corporate bank. The perfect start to your career!
After completing the 5-week introduction program, you will begin the Global Markets rotation program. For 24 months, you will work in the various teams of the dealing room. Additionally, you will get the opportunity to rotate through other departments within the corporate bank, broadening your knowledge and network. It is also possible to gain experience in one of our offices in Frankfurt, Paris, London, or New York. After 24 months, you will be ready to start in a team that best aligns with your skills and ambitions.
Possible rotation assignments:
- Fixed Income & Derivatives (FID) Sales & Trading: Dive into the world of interest rate products and derivatives and improve your technical skills in one of our FID Trading teams. You will assist in structuring financial products for our institutional and corporate clients.
- Foreign Exchange Sales & Trading: Anticipate the rapidly changing environment of foreign currencies (FX). You will learn how to improve our (electronic) FX trading platforms and learn how our FX Sales colleagues serve our clients.
- Debt Capital Markets (DCM): Get involved in a wide range of DCM transactions such as bond issuances from corporate and financial institutions, securitizations, and syndicated loans.
- Equity Capital Markets (ECM): Work on important and strategic transactions (often front-page news) such as IPOs and share issuances for our corporate clients.
- Product Management & Strategy: Gain unique insights into the strategic choices for offering Global Markets products to our clients in alignment with the broader ABN AMRO strategy.
Because your role is constantly changing, you are guaranteed to learn a lot in a short time. With all the knowledge you acquire, you ensure yourself a solid foundation for a great career at ABN AMRO.
Working Environment

You also have the ability to bring together colleagues from different backgrounds to optimally serve our clients. Achieving goals gives you satisfaction, you enjoy learning new things, and you feel comfortable in changing environments.
