Information on Sports Heritage and films
In one hundred years of Olympic sport, NOC*NSF has built up an extremely fascinating collection of Olympic sports heritage. This collection consists of objects, documents, and 16mm films relating to international and national elite sports in the Netherlands, and in particular objects relating to the Olympic Games. NOC*NSF has the dream of creating a virtual Olympic museum in the future. NOC*NSF has a collection of films that were made and collected in the past by the Dutch Sports Federation NSF and the Dutch Olympic Committee NOC between 1950 and 1980. To provide an indication of the subjects, here is a short list: national and international sports competition reports, instruction on tennis strokes, penalties and face masking in ice hockey, TELEAC course on sports leadership, meetings of exercise physiologists, and fitness clips.
The 16mm films are housed at the Gelders Archief, which will also be the workplace. Of the films, only summary descriptions and sometimes only a short title or word exist. All important films are being digitized and must all be viewed and described in a special computer system: what can be seen on the films, and what makes the films so special. You will receive a short internal training for this. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Gelders Archief.
