The role

Your contribution to the construction of a Feadship

Every year, an average of two superyachts leave the dry docks of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw. Luxury, custom-built yachts in which technology and finishing are perfect down to the last detail.

As a technical technician, you play a key role in getting these yachts operational. You build and install the piping for the technical installations on board. You work on yachts of approximately 50 to over 80 meters, in technical spaces spread throughout the entire ship.

This is what you will do as a Technical Technician

The largest part of your work consists of fitting and installing piping. These include: fuel and oil systems, cooling and exhaust systems, and air conditioning and heating systems.

  • Measuring and producing welded piping
  • Installing and finishing the welded piping
  • Connecting piping from pumps and various end users
  • Pressure testing and leak testing

In addition, you will be busy with various assembly tasks:

  • Brackets and structures for piping
  • Assembly of various valves and sensors on the welded piping
  • Working with Mapress press pipe systems up to 50mm.

You work from the 3D model and based on schematic drawings. Piping packages are prepared and ready per room, so that you can work efficiently and with a clear overview. You choose the right materials, tools, and working methods yourself, always with an eye for the high finishing standard that Feadship strives for.

  • Engine room. Here you work throughout the entire finishing phase: from the first assembly to testing pipes with air pressure.
  • Other technical spaces. Such as AC rooms and ventilation rooms. These are spread throughout the entire yacht. In these spaces, you usually work in pairs and often for shorter periods.
  • Workshop where you perform the preparatory work

  • Pressure testing and leak testing

In addition, you will be busy with various assembly tasks:

What characterizes this work

This is physically active technical work. You work with heavy materials, stand a lot in technical spaces, and never lift pipes alone. That is precisely what makes the work attractive to skilled professionals who enjoy working with their hands and have technical insight. At the end of the day, they want to see what they have built. Every boat is different. That makes the work varied, challenging, and exactly the reason why many professionals consciously choose this trade.

What you bring

The work is more than just functional - it is a matter of precision and aesthetics. We finish the technical spaces of the yachts just as beautifully as the exterior. You ensure that everything not only works well but also looks professional.

  • You have a relevant completed MBO education at minimum level 2 or 3, or a completed LTS education.
  • You have extensive work experience as a pipefitter in technology. Preferably, you have this experience in luxury yacht building.
  • You have experience with working methods such as measuring, processing, and installing pipes. You can handle tools and materials such as stainless steel, steel, Cunifer, and aluminum well.
  • You have knowledge of reading isometric and technical drawings and diagrams;
  • You have experience with the assembly of technical equipment;
  • experience with TIG welding.

Every Feadship is custom built and cannot exist without your contribution. Therefore, there is always a piece of yourself in it. That gives a sense of responsibility. But also certainly a sense of pride. And that is perhaps the most important thing we can offer you.

  • Travel allowance of € 0.23 per km.
