The role

Location: Alkmaar

At ENGIE, we develop sustainable energy for the future. Green gas is a key pillar in our strategy. As a Green Gas Production Technician, you will play a role within our biogas plant in Alkmaar and the energy transition. Would you like to work in an independent position with a lot of freedom? Then read on.

What you'll do

In this position, you will work together with your colleagues on the production of Green Gas at one of our production sites in the Netherlands. This production site is located in Alkmaar, and there you will work together with your (technical) colleagues and your supervisor. In a small team, you will work together to ensure production. You will identify problems in the installations and the process and seek the right solutions. You like to go the extra mile and you ensure continuity and safety.

  • Ensuring the daily feeding of the digesters. For this, you operate the loader shovel for processing solid feedstock;
  • Monitoring the production process and conducting inspection rounds. This also includes identifying, reporting, or resolving unsafe situations;
  • Initial analysis of disruptions that you may be able to resolve yourself. In this, you will also work with various control systems. Additionally, after your induction period, you will participate in the 24/7 breakdown service, where you will also perform operational tasks during the weekend of your duty week (this means that on the weekend, depending on the collective preparation before the weekend, you will be present on location for an average of about 2 to 3 hours on Saturday and/or Sunday to ensure that the feeder is filled and you complete your operational inspection round);
  • You contribute to achieving the production schedule. In doing so, you also guide and support external maintenance partners in performing maintenance;
  • Together with the team, you ensure that the installation continues to comply with laws and regulations. Additionally, you ensure that the plant location remains neat and organized.

Where will you work?

ENGIE Netherlands is part of the ENGIE GROUP, but thanks to the small-scale character in the Netherlands, the lines are short. At the same time, you have the resources of a large international organization.

Green gas is an important pillar in our strategy. ENGIE has the objective in the Netherlands to produce and supply more greenly. In 2030, we want to produce 10 TWh of green gas in Europe. With this objective, ENGIE is also ahead of upcoming laws and regulations. In 2027, a blending obligation will come into force, which is intended to ensure that by 2030, 1.1 billion m3 of green gas is blended into the Dutch natural gas grid to reduce CO2.

What do you bring to this position?

You are closely involved in the activities and the organization. You can carry the responsibility of keeping the production processes running and also ensure that the plant remains neat.
