What you'll do

In the role of Crane Operator, you will be involved in:

  • Operating all cranes present on the shipyard / shipyards that are equipped with a cabin. Transports / accurately places a large variety of loads, where in certain cases work must be performed with multiple cranes simultaneously.
  • Performs daily (1st line) maintenance on the cranes.
  • Assists with (horizontal) transport. Operates, among others, forklifts and telehandlers.
  • In certain cases, also performs other tasks in other departments.
  • Demonstrates behavior of conscious safe working, prevents environmental impact during the execution of activities, and utilizes quality-oriented working methods. Promotes this behavior in others.

The role

Operating our quay/port cranes. Transporting loads.

Concerns all cranes occurring at our yards in Schiedam and in the Botlek.

Skills & experience

You are a skilled professional who loves tinkering, solving problems, and is proud of well-executed work. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • The position requires a working and thinking level that corresponds to VMBO level.
  • Possesses a diploma / certificate confirming expertise in operating quay/port cranes.
  • Has good vision (including at night) including depth perception. Has no trouble working at heights.
  • Knows the capabilities of the crane regarding load capacity and wind sensitivity and is able to assess whether a load is securely fastened.
  • Masters the English language at a level where instructions are understood and directions can be given.
