The role

How do you ensure that the stories behind technology and innovation from Brainport Eindhoven touch, reach, and connect people?

In the Brainport region, companies, knowledge institutions, and governments collaborate on technological solutions for the societal challenges of today and tomorrow. Brainport Development connects these parties and shows a wide audience what is happening in the region.

As a Social Media & Content Specialist, you ensure that those stories reach the right people in the right way. From an innovative technology from the region to a societal issue or a development that deserves attention in The Hague and Brussels. You know how to turn it into a strong story.

We are looking for someone who sees social media not just as a publication channel, but as a means to connect. Someone who combines strategy and creativity, sees opportunities, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves.

What you'll do

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As a Social Media & Content Specialist, you are responsible for the further development of Brainport's social media channels: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. You translate Brainport's communication strategy into a strong and recognizable social media strategy. You think about target audiences, formats, channels, and content, and you constantly look at what works and what can be improved. The emphasis is on organic content and growing our communities. Additionally, you work on paid social media campaigns. In this, you collaborate closely with our agencies, online marketer, and the rest of the MarCom team.

You are involved from strategy to execution and analysis. You:

  • Develop and monitor the social media strategy and content calendar.

  • Actively gather stories from colleagues and partners within the Brainport ecosystem.

  • Translate complex topics into clear and engaging content.

  • Conceive and develop new formats and campaigns.

  • Create content yourself and guide external creators and production parties where necessary.

  • Analyze the results of content and channels and translate these into improvements.

  • Advise colleagues and the MarCom team on the use of social media for their field.

  • Continue to build an engaged community around Brainport.

  • Switch between different target audiences: from residents and professionals to media, partners, and decision-makers in The Hague and Brussels.

  • Connect organic and paid social media and determine which content and stories you give extra reach or impact with paid investment.

  • Set up smaller paid social media campaigns yourself, for example on LinkedIn and Meta. You work with clear objectives and KPIs, monitor the results, and adjust targeting, advertisements, and budget where necessary.

  • Direct external agencies for larger campaigns, for example for Google Ads. You ensure a clear briefing, provide substantive input, and assess interim and final results.

WHAT DOES YOUR WORKING DAY LOOK LIKE?

The fun part about this work is that no working day is the same. One day you dive into the figures of our social media channels, and the next day you work on a new content format.

To give you an impression, here is an example of what a working day might look like:

  • 09:00 AM Start with a good cup of coffee or tea.

  • 09:30 AM Check-in with the various social media channels of Brainport: how are the followers, likes, shares, and comments? What can we do with them?

  • 10:30 AM Tomorrow you will supervise the filming of an accessible video about technological developments from the region. You discuss the final practical points with the production company.

  • 11:00 AM Content meeting: what ideas do your colleagues have and which milestones are coming up?

  • 11:45 AM Update the content agenda one more time and post a LinkedIn post before lunch.

  • 12:30 PM Eat a bite together at the office. Or perhaps a walk through the park?

  • 01:00 PM During lunch, you heard an interesting story from a colleague about housing construction in the region. Together, you look at the possibilities to translate this to socials.

  • 02:00 PM You discuss your ideas about the further development of the corporate channels with the Head of Communication.

  • 03:00 PM You brief one of the enthusiastic working students in your team about a new video idea for the TikTok channel.

  • 04:00 PM You review the first results of a LinkedIn campaign you set up for international talent. You see where you can adjust your target audience, content, or budget.

  • 05:00 PM Almost time to go home, but... one more look at the incoming messages and dashboards. Is any action still needed?

WHO ARE YOU?

You are curious, creative, and entrepreneurial. You see opportunities and know how to get people on board with your ideas. You move easily between different subjects, target audiences, and interests.

You find it interesting to work at the intersection of technology, innovation, and societal issues and want to understand what is happening in the Brainport region.

Additionally, you have a sense for the environment in which Brainport Development operates. We work with public money and deal with many different parties. Therefore, political and administrative sensitivity, thoroughness, and flexibility are important.

Furthermore, you bring:

  • HBO (Higher Professional Education) working and thinking level.

  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.

  • You are curious and always looking for interesting stories. Both within your own organization and outside. This work is even more fun with an interest in the (economic) developments in our region and in tech, innovation, and societal issues.

  • Your enthusiasm is infectious and you establish contact easily, both internally and externally.

  • You know how to formulate a catchy and clear message from texts or conversations containing a lot of information. You write clearly, catchily, and in a target-audience-oriented manner.

  • You can translate that message into both text and image. You create simple content yourself and you know when to engage an external party. You manage these parties yourself.

  • You have a healthy dose of creativity. You find it a beautiful challenge to create engaging content, taking into account the interests of the various stakeholders.

  • You are analytical enough to understand KPIs and campaign results and to make choices based on them.

  • Preferably, you have some experience with paid social media campaigns, for example via LinkedIn Campaign Manager or Meta Ads Manager.

  • You understand the main principles of how Google Ads works. You do not need to set up campaigns yourself, but you can brief an agency, think along substantively, and assess results.

Not everything checked off? No problem. We find it especially important that you bring experience and enthusiasm and want to develop yourself.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • In exchange for this extensive wish list, there is of course also much beauty:

  • An informal, collegial atmosphere and an inspiring working environment at Eindhoven's Strijp-T. We work in a beautiful, spacious, and bright office, including a daily (free) catered lunch AND the company of office dog Teddy.

  • Access to a wide network within business, education, and government in the unique, innovative ecosystem of Brainport Eindhoven.

  • The freedom to alternate between working at the office and at home. Do you not have a good, ergonomically sound home workspace? Then we will help you with that.

  • A salary in scale 8 (starting at € 3,772/month based on 40h/week) and a one-year contract with the intention of renewal.

  • An attractive bicycle plan, public transport subscription and/or mileage allowance.

  • And above all: a dynamic position in an enthusiastic MarCom team!
