Co-founding Tech Lead InsightOut

Achmea Impact Ventures invests in digital startups that make an impact in health, work, finance, and sustainability. From our Venture Studio, we build new companies from scratch together with founders, providing funding, hands-on expertise, and Achmea's strong network. InsightOut is one of those ventures.

InsightOut helps larger organizations to truly listen to employees and improve together with them. Employees can make their voices heard in a much more personalized way, but also see that something is being done with what they share. Our mission is to enable employers to respond much better and faster to what is happening.

Instead of long questionnaires, InsightOut conducts personal conversations via channels such as WhatsApp and Teams. This creates a richer picture of what is happening on the work floor and allows experiences from daily practice to be translated into a better understanding of needs and concrete improvements. Customers find these insights in the dashboard.

InsightOut has already proven to reach significantly more employees than traditional research instruments. This yields valuable insights and ideas for improvement, but also enthusiastic reactions from employees who find it inviting and fun to participate in discussions about their work in this way.

Last but not least is that InsightOut performs well and above expectations on a commercial level.

We are building two sides of the same product:

• Conversations that work for employees. Our AI conversation partner must adapt to what someone is saying, ask follow-up questions at the right moment, and leave room for unexpected insights. How do you ensure that employees continue to express themselves with increasing depth in this continuous dialogue?

• Insights that organizations can use. Patterns, signals, and ideas are contained within thousands of conversations. How do you translate these into reliable insights, advice, and possible interventions?

In addition, employee privacy must remain guaranteed. Personal data and organizational data remain strictly separated; customers do not get access to individual conversations or raw data. At the same time, we want to be able to experiment with conversational AI and let the platform grow along with usage.

There is a scalable product and InsightOut has ten paying customers, some of whom have already extended their collaboration. We see a lot of interest from the market and opportunities to expand further within existing client organizations.

The current team consists of two founders, a Product Manager, a Customer Success Manager, and an Engineer. Achmea Impact Ventures supports InsightOut practically and financially. The focus is now shifting toward targeted further development and scaling up. As Tech Lead, you step in while there is already a product and customers, but the technical choices for the next phase still need to be made.

You bring technical depth to the team and contribute to building it yourself. In the first six months, you are expected to spend approximately 80% of your time building and 20% on architecture, technical direction, and coaching; of course, you will also lead engineers.

The work currently focuses on three components:

• Conversations: designing, building, and testing AI dialogues with users.

• Customer journey: automating onboarding and building the possibilities for customers to start dialogues themselves.

• Customer results: developing the intelligence layer that translates conversations into insights, advice, and ideas for improvement.

You will be technically ultimately responsible for the architecture and infrastructure, AI and chat technology, future voice technology, integrations, security, privacy, monitoring, and stability. You provide direction to other developers, including remotely, and help set up the development process.

You work closely with the founders, product, and customer success. You help determine what we build, turn ideas into testable experiments, and involve customers and partners in choices that affect their use of the product.

Today we primarily build with TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and Terraform within Google Cloud. Additionally, we work with technologies such as Vertex AI, Mastra, Trengo, and Bastion.

The current stack forms the starting point, not the final destination. You will be given the space to revise fundamental technical choices when reliability, privacy, digital sovereignty, security, scalability, or the product vision demand it. In doing so, you will always maintain the balance with the most important goal: delivering value to customers quickly and continuing to learn from real users.

At the end of the first six months:

1. The operational burden has been reduced by more than 50% through automation.

2. The AI dialogues demonstrably align better with user wishes.

3. Customers can independently start dialogues and their own operations within the platform.

4. Insights, advice, and ideas for improvement are directly available to the customer.

5. The compliance process after the spin-out has been successfully completed.

How you set that up technically and strategically, you decide together with us.

You are a senior engineer who builds themselves and takes technical responsibility. You:

• write production code at a senior level and have previously brought an LLM-driven product to production;

• have demonstrably carried technical responsibility for a product in an early stage, for example as a founding engineer, tech lead, or technical founder;

• can build yourself while simultaneously making choices about architecture, product, and priorities;

• have experience with infrastructure, deployment, and complex integrations;

• understand what privacy, security, and reliability mean for the design and operation of a product;

• can provide technical guidance to developers and explain your considerations clearly to customers and non-technical colleagues, where the product lead is also an important stakeholder.

You can bring people along with an idea, lead a design session, and see new possibilities for the product. You think in hypotheses and measurable results, set priorities, and dare to stop work when it provides insufficient value.

Experience with dialogue technology, privacy-sensitive infrastructure, or other business-critical environments is a plus.
