The role

Ready for the next step in your career? Start your leadership journey with the retail management traineeship at Lidl. In 18 to 24 months, you will grow into a supermarket manager with the ultimate goal of progressing to the role of area manager. You will develop within an international supermarket chain that is increasingly focusing on sustainability, bond with other trainees, and get the opportunity to lead approximately 40 colleagues. You are eager to learn and curious, exactly the qualities we look for in a future leader.

What you'll do

In this traineeship, you will go through 4 periods in which you will get to know all aspects of Lidl:

Period 1 (2 months): you start in the store as a sales assistant and you get to know the daily processes.
Period 2 (4 months): you develop yourself into an assistant supermarket manager by taking on increasing responsibilities and you learn how to lead your team.
Period 3 (3 months): you get acquainted with the Supply Chain and Logistics departments through projects at our distribution center.
Period 4 (3-6 and 6 months): you prepare yourself for the role of supermarket manager and you learn how to develop the team and the store. During the traineeship, you will also work on your own optimization project.

Your role as supermarket manager / area manager

The ultimate goal of this program is the position of area manager (responsible for various branches and approx. 200 colleagues). How quickly you take that next step depends on your personal development, performance, and available positions within the region.
