The role

Are you someone who loves to create journalistic stories about media literacy? Then read on quickly, because we are looking for a:

CAMJO/camerajournalist REWIND

HUMAN is a public broadcaster that operates as a social network organization, inspired by humanism. Our programs and activities focus on everyone who embraces humanist values and strives for a democratic rule of law. We encourage reflection and stimulate positive contributions to society.

In a time when social media is often the primary news source and fake news and misinformation are increasing, Rewind rewinds to the source. With experts and specialists, we show on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube how media hype arises and how perception influences reality.

What you'll do

For Rewind, we are looking for a camera journalist / director who will be responsible for developing and directing journalistic videos on the new REWIND YouTube channel. With a small editorial team, starting in 2027, we will publish bi-weekly mid-form videos accompanied by short-form content on YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok. We expect that:

  • You follow the media (online, print, and TV) closely and are crazy about the fringes of the internet. You know how to clearly dissect complex subjects and media crises to bring the real story behind the perception to light.

  • You effortlessly translate journalistic analyses into visually attractive mid-form YouTube videos and short-form content for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. You have demonstrable directing experience, can shoot strong shots, and direct presenters with confidence.

  • You actively contribute ideas and help build the YouTube strategy and formats of the channel. With your knowledge of SEO, catchy thumbnails, smart titles, and platform dynamics, you ensure that the videos reach the maximum audience.

  • You work closely with researchers on solid, well-founded stories and bring in new ideas yourself. You are independent and easily take on varying roles within our small, flexible editorial team: from research and production to potentially presenting.

Hiring process

Our vacancy is open to everyone who recognizes themselves in the description. HUMAN strives for an inclusive workforce that reflects the diversity of society and adheres to the Code for Cultural Diversity. Working in diversely composed teams makes our work more fun and innovative. Every talent is welcome. We are especially curious about your qualities and how you will complement our team.

We deviate from the traditional way of applying with a motivation letter and CV. Instead of a motivation letter, we expect you to answer several substantive questions:

  • Which three journalistic topics would you like to cover in Rewind and why?

  • Elaborate further on the idea for one topic. What are we going to see?

  • Upload three videos that you have made that you are proud of (links).

  • Why are you proud of these videos?

  • Take a video that we have already made on our Instagram and clearly indicate where you think it could be better or different. What choices would you have made to tell this story?

Are you interested? Send your CV and answer the questions via the application button no later than November 5, 2026.

For substantive questions, you can contact Giselle Micolo, editor-in-chief of Rewind, via giselle.micolo@human.nl.
