The role
You provide direction to our data domain and to the people who run it every day. Join Deftpower's Data Team!
About the role
This role does not necessarily require the strongest data engineer on the market. It requires more someone who understands engineering well enough to make the team stronger and to give direction to the data domain. This will include:
You will lead Serhii and Piet: you coach them and ensure they build with confidence.
You will stabilize the data warehouse and set up a good data model, the foundation for reliable reporting and for the analytics and AI that follow.
You will also roll up your sleeves: you will contribute hands-on to building pipelines and the data model.
Together with Marc (COO), you will determine the course of the data domain and translate that into concrete priorities for the team.
You are the point of contact for stakeholders from Product, Operations, Finance, and Commercial: you gather what they need and help determine what takes priority.
For you
At Deftpower, you will find more than smart technology. You will find a team that enjoys the ride and is proud of building something real together. We are ambitious, open, and growing fast. We move quickly, we make decisions, and we improve every day.
This role is for someone who loves turning complexity into clarity and wants to see the direct impact of his or her work. As Data Domain Lead, you will take ownership of the data domain and help shape how it grows. As the team continues to grow, this role offers the opportunity to progress into an official Team Lead position.
To strengthen our culture, we organize Deftpower Days (D-Day) every quarter, where colleagues from Arnhem, Berlin, and Sweden come together.
A salary between €5,000 and €6,500 gross per month.
Holiday allowance and leave days according to Dutch regulations.
Pension and secondary benefits according to Dutch standards.
An annual training budget of €2,000.
A laptop of your choice up to €1,750.
Hybrid working with short lines of communication and a high degree of trust.
About you
You combine technical expertise with a strong sense of people and priorities. Do you recognize yourself in this?
You know your way around Azure SQL, Power BI, and Azure Data Factory, and have a strong sense of data modeling; Azure Functions and .NET are a plus, but perfectly fine to learn.
You have previously stabilized a less mature data environment, not just technically, but also by bringing structure and calm to how a team works.
You are energetic, commercially minded, and sincerely people-oriented, and you derive just as much satisfaction from growing your colleagues as from solving a technical problem.
You can switch between hands-on building and directing from a distance, and you sense well when to do which.
A background as a consultant fits well here, as does that of a senior data engineer who is already picking up the softer side of leadership and now wants to do so officially.
You are strong enough to convince stakeholders from across the entire business without losing contact with your team.
Hiring process
This is what you can expect from our application process. After you apply, we will carefully review your profile. If there is a match, we will contact you for a short introductory interview.
After that, two interviews will follow: one with Christiaan, our current Team Lead Operations who previously led the Data team, and one with Marc Dick, our COO. If both sides are enthusiastic, we will proceed with an offer. We keep the process clear, personal, and focused on getting to know each other well.

In their own words
About the company & team
Deftpower makes charging smarter. With our SaaS solution and AI, we ensure that charging stations, cars, and the energy grid work together seamlessly, for companies throughout Europe. We are growing fast, thanks to a significant investment, and are expanding our team considerably this year.
You will be working with Serhii and Piet, two hard workers who enjoy keeping the daily operations running and know the platform inside and out. What the team needs now is someone to give the data domain a clear direction. Our data volumes are growing rapidly, and our data warehouse is still relatively young: the foundation is there, but it is not yet complete. There is a great challenge in stabilizing that foundation and preparing it for the next phase, including analytics and AI.
