The role
Field Service Engineer – Audio Safety | Schiphol
Work on systems that everyone must be able to hear — always.
Imagine: an airport where tens of thousands of people depend daily on systems that must function in real time. Audio solutions that contribute directly to safety, communication, and control.
Within the Bosch Airports Business Line, you will work exclusively on Audio Safety systems at Schiphol.
Think of:
- public address systems (PA/VA)
- evacuation systems
- critical audio infrastructures
At Schiphol, we manage more than 25,000 components distributed across 25 central stations within a live environment where all systems are continuously operational and downtime is not an option.
What you maintain and test must function when it truly matters.
Bosch is not an organization that focuses on short-term results or shareholder value. Bosch is a stable foundation with a focus on:
- quality and reliability
- long-term cooperation
- development of people and craftsmanship
Therefore, we do not see a first-year contract as a temporary stepping stone, but as a conscious start to a sustainable partnership.
Here, you do not just work on technology. You build trust, continuity, and safety.
Your role: ensuring Schiphol remains audible (and) safe
As a Field Service Engineer Audio Safety, you work in the middle of Schiphol's live operations.
You ensure that systems:
- function as designed
- continue to work reliably
- respond correctly in practical situations
- remain safely operational during changes
You are the one who makes technology visibly reliable.
This is no standard service role. You work in an environment where systems can never be "just turned off."
What you'll do
From troubleshooting to live validation
- Commissioning audio and evacuation systems
- Resolving complex technical faults
- Performing functional tests
- Checking whether systems respond as intended
- Performing software updates and changes
- Implementing small technical adjustments in live environments
- Collaborating on the setup and delivery of security systems
- Guiding colleagues and external parties
- Recording activities, testing, and reports
- Working according to safety and quality guidelines (ARBO & VCA)
- Participating in standby shifts
You ensure that systems are not just "on" — but also truly do what they are supposed to do.
The environment: live, dynamic, and critical
Working at Schiphol means:
- systems running 24/7
- activities take place between travelers and operations
- changes have a direct impact
- safety is always number one
That requires someone who works carefully, switches gears quickly, and thinks ahead.
How you'll work
- audio is directly linked to safety
- continuity is more important than speed
- technology must always be operationally reliable
What you bring
Must-haves
Highly desirable
You are someone who solves problems before users notice them.
Why this role is different
You do not work on installations in an empty building.
You work on systems that:
- used daily by thousands of people
- must be available during emergency situations
- have a real-time impact on safety and communication
- can never just be switched off
What you do is literally heard back in the operations of Schiphol.
Why you want this
Because you:
- wants to work on technology that makes a direct impact
- gets energy from live and complex environments
- wants to maintain systems that must never fail
- wants to combine responsibility with freedom
- wants to be part of a team that takes safety seriously
This is not a job for people seeking routine. This is a role for professionals who derive value from technology that must always function.
Ready to keep Schiphol audibly safe?
