Administrators are looking for solutions that are both financially sustainable and socially responsible.
As Teamlead Finance, Operations and Control at Berenschot, you provide direction to these complex issues. You act as a strategic advisor to administrators, boards, and management teams, while simultaneously building upon the further development of an ambitious team of advisors. You combine substantive expertise with leadership, entrepreneurship, and a strong sense of the administrative context.
As teamlead, you are both substantively and organizationally responsible for the further development of the Finance, Operations and Control team. You advise administrators, municipal secretaries, boards, group controllers, and management teams on complex financial and operational issues.
Your duties include:
leading complex advisory assignments for municipalities, provinces, and other public organizations
advising on the financial sustainability of municipalities and provinces, budgetary issues, budget cuts, and the affordability of societal challenges
developing new propositions and identifying opportunities in the market
maintaining and further expanding your network within public administration
managing, guiding, coaching, and developing colleagues within the team
contributing to acquisition, quotes, and commercial processes
further strengthening Berenschot's market position within the domain of Finance, Operations and Control within public administration.
You are part of the management team of Berenschot's Public Administration advisory group. You are visible in the public domain, closely follow administrative and financial developments, and know how to translate these into innovative services for our clients.
Berenschot is an independent Dutch organizational consultancy firm in Utrecht, where more than 500 driven colleagues work on sustainable solutions for the challenges of our clients. We contribute to progress in organizations and society with our advice and solutions. Our organization has a flat structure without partners, which gives you influence over the projects you carry out.
You become part of the Public Administration advisory group: a multidisciplinary team of over 100 professionals with diverse expertise. Here, public administration specialists, financial specialists, lawyers, crisis and security experts, political scientists, communication advisors, and experts in various societal themes work together intensively on the challenges of the public sector.
Within this advisory group, you lead the Finance, Operations and Control team, consisting of approximately ten experienced advisors. Our colleagues are curious, analytical, and have clear opinions, always based on knowledge, facts, and professionalism. At the same time, we find enjoyment to be at least as important. We regularly organize drinks, inspiration sessions, team days, and work meetings at special locations. We challenge each other, help each other forward, and celebrate successes together.
You are an experienced consultant with natural leadership. You understand how public administration works, move easily within administrative relationships, and are a strong interlocutor for administrators and boards.
In addition, you possess:
a completed MSc degree
extensive experience within or for municipalities, provinces, or other government organizations
demonstrable consultancy experience
experience leading complex advisory assignments
a strong network within public administration
experience with leadership, coaching, or team development
excellent communication skills and administrative sensitivity

Do you have experience as a (former) alderman, financial administrator, group controller, municipal secretary, or in a similar strategic role within the government? Then your profile aligns perfectly with this role.
At Berenschot, we offer a unique commercial environment without shareholders or partners. This gives us a lot of space and freedom to take initiative and the opportunity to commit ourselves to important social themes. Our informal culture is characteristic. a regular collective profit-sharing scheme (depending on the results of the company)
an attractive pension scheme
27 vacation days, with the possibility to purchase a maximum of 20 additional vacation days in the case of full-time employment
flexible holidays; we offer the possibility to shift official holidays to days that are meaningful to you
